South Thames Colleges Group (STCG) is proud to support Deaf Awareness Week which is taking place between 2nd – 8th May 2022.
The theme for Deaf awareness week 2022 is Deaf Inclusion, to explore the entire theme of inclusion within our community. The aim of the campaign is to highlight the impact of hearing loss on everyday life and increase visibility and inclusion of Deaf people. Through its collaboration with the Deaf support specialist Deaf Viewpoint, STCG is hosting a number of deaf awareness tutorials will take place throughout the week including staff development sessions.
STCG works in partnership with Deaf Viewpoint who support students throughout the group who have hearing impairment. Deaf Viewpoint is based at the Wandsworth campus of South Thames College and is led by CEO and founder Irmina St Catherine, it empowers Deaf children, young people and adults to achieve in education, by providing communication support workers, interpreters and notetakers.
