Last week South Thames College hosted a Hospitality & Training Jobs Fair, matching local businesses and residents to local jobs and training opportunities. The event was exhibited by 10+ employers from local businesses looking for workers in hospitality including Pizza Express, Pasta Evangelists & McDonalds.

Our business development team worked in partnership with local authorities and job centres to advertise the event to unemployed locals, encouraging them to come along and talk to employers about opportunities.

The team also worked to make people aware of the fantastic career progression opportunities a job in hospitality can lead to, such as Customer Services, Marketing, Finance & IT. The event was very well attended with many attendees leaving having been offered an interview or even a job role in the area.

Attendees commented:

‘I’ve spoken to 5 different people; I’m now really excited to work in Hospitality’

‘It’s my first time at a jobs fair. It’s been very helpful for me. I gave my CV to 2 people for KFC and Franco Manca.’

‘I found it very useful. There are lots of employers looking for staff to recruit and they’re very helpful and supportive. They explained how to apply and it's a very easy process and I've lined up a couple of jobs, one at David Lloyds and one at Bills.  It's good that life is back to normal after lockdown.’
